As you can see, it is not a very impressive start to NaNoWriMo this year. The zero WPD’s book-ending the week certainly don’t help any.
So what’s the problem?
Chiefly speaking it is my inability to turn off my internal editor while I write. All I can manage is to mute him, and then only for short spells. Secondly, the subject matter of my project ( NOVUS ORDO ) is an idea-rich work. I find articulating ideas intelligibly much more difficult than action sequences, descriptive exposition or dialogue (except when I’m using character dialogue to flesh out said ideas.)
Moving ahead, I will try to get some writing done every day this coming week. (This morning’s session produced 818 words)
Additionally, should I get stuck on Novus Ordo, I will switch to a different project until the block is broken. Finishing a novel this November would be nice, but my main goal is to train my internal editor and so up my daily words per day to a consistent day in and day out 3 thousand.
Hope y’all are having a more productive time of it!
Though, if you think about it, writing 5,000 words in a week is amazing on a normal month! It’s all relative, I suppose.

It’s better than I normally manage. 3K words has been my 2017 average. But I’ve got so many books knocking about my skull, looking to get out, that I’ve got to up my productivity before my head explodes!

That’s my biggest issue too. Just having the time to write down all the ideas in my head!
