It’s been three steps forward and two back with One Last Flight. I have not written every day as I had hoped to. Neither have I been too successful at keeping my inner editor at bay while writing. And so I regret to report that I have missed my second deadline.
What can I do now that NaNoWriMo is upon me but double down and plow forward?
My plan for November is to push myself to write those 50K words. That’s roughly 1,700 words a day, which happens to be about twice as much as I have been producing on my best days. To help make it happen, I’m doubling my writing time from one three hour session in the morning to three two hour sessions, morning, noon and evening. Additionally in order to get around any writer’s blocks that might fall in my path to that goal, I’m ready to bounce between my four unfinished projects to reach the requisite words per day.
The Four Projects
One Last Flight is a science fiction novella that presently sits at 16,466 words. Of my four projects it is the nearest to completion and so I will begin with it.
Novus Ordo is a dystopian novella which weighs in at 19,395 words.
Gargoyle is a short story which is only 649 words tall.
The House of Islam, the second novel of my, The Omega Crusade quartet has only 6,735 words to boast of.
Fifty thousand will be more than enough to finish the first three projects and put a dent in the fourth.
Tonight however, I’m going to veg out and watch Volumes 1 and 2 of Guardians of the Galaxy.
Happy Writing y’all!
