I managed to add another 687 words to the short story that will not die! At 13K plus words, it’s well into novelette territory and seems to barreling straight through into the novella zone. I could, of course, end up cutting back on it significantly during the second draft, so we’ll see. All I know is that I would like to see it wrapped up by the end of October, so that I can dedicate November to finishing up Novus Ordo during the NaNoWriMo challenge.
Speaking of which, tomorrow I will re-read what I have already written for Novus Ordo. It’s been months since I’ve looked at it. Once I’m re-familiarized with it, I can spend the rest of October plotting out the remainder of the book scene-by-scene. This will be quite the departure for me, a hardened by-the-seat-of-my-pants writer, but my success thus far with the new planned approach compels me to continue.
